Earthshine Moon OVER Earth

Hey Space Placers!

You have to see this pic taken from the International Space Station of the very young crescent Moon resplendent with beautiful Earthshine suspended over the Earth. The Moon is seen through the outer layers of the planet's upper atmosphere while the limb is visible through the thicker lower atmosphere.

You may recall Earthshine is the reflection of sunlight off of Earth's clouds and oceans that falls upon the unlit portion of the Moon. Strong Earthshine can illuminate lunar features as you can see in the pic - beautiful, just beautiful.

I wish there were more pics of the Moon from space but this is a good one that could make a perfect desktop background or in your favorites.
