Hey Space Placers!
Tonight the waning gibbous Moon and bright Jupiter team up in the eastern sky for a nice view at around 9 pm local time.
Also peek at Venus and Mercury as they are closing in on one another. This pic was taken on 1-5-15. Venus is at the top with Mercury below.
And check out Comet Lovejoy as soon as it gets dark. See my earlier column. Here is a pic from last night. A faint tail is at 9 o'clock. The comet is almost at naked eye in moonlight so when the Moon is out of the sky you should be able to see it with your eyes. It is distinct in binoculars.
