Beautiful and brilliant Venus currently in the western sky will be at peak brightness tonight and tomorrow. It will be at a blazing magnitude -4.7. The only two objects brighter in the whole day and night sky are the Sun and Moon.

In any quality optical aid - spotting scope, binoculars or telescope - Venus will reveal its crescent phase which will continue to get thinner and bigger in the months to come.

Get out tonight and enjoy the view and beauty of Venus. While you are out enjoy the view of the waxing crescent Moon amongst the fading constellations of Winter.
