This is the core stage of the Ariane 5 rocket that will launch James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) into orbit. The core stage will be mated to two solid rocket boosters and the whole stack will be checked out and certified for launch, currently scheduled for December 18, 2021.
JWST is undergoing check out and preparations for eventually mating to the Ariane 5.
I will be covering the launch of JWST at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STSci) for WTOP starting December 17th as well as here on my blog.
