Hey, Space Placers!
Center of the Milky Way In August At Shenandoah National Park
Greg Redfern
If you are lucky enough to live in dark skies or will be visiting a dark sky area soon, you are in for an awe inspiring experience - seeing the Milky Way - our home galaxy.
I NEVER tire of seeing our home among the trillions of galaxies in the visible Universe. It is beautiful, covers a wide and lengthy swath of the sky and changes its orientation in the night sky as we go around the Sun each year.
Now in the Northern Hemisphere the heart of the Milky Way is visible in the hours before dawn. August is Milky Way month for those above the equator and Spring is the time to start watching.
