On June 25th China's Chang'e 6 mission successfully delivered to Earth the first-ever samples from the far side of the moon. The samples were being transported on June 26th to a facility for retrieval and study.
The lander and ascender components of the mission likely did not survive.
It is not know yet how much lunar material has been returned and who China will share those samples with. They are vitally important as this is the first samples ever from the far side-South Pole of the Moon.
More as it develops.
