A spaceship punched an asteroid — we’re about to learn what came next

 Hey, Space Placers!

On October 7, 2024, the European Space Agency (ESA) successfully launched the Hera Mission. This very complex and ambitious mission will travel millions of miles out into the solar system to a pair of asteroids.

The purpose of Hera is to explore an asteroid that was hit in 2022 by NASA's DART mission that caused the space rock to lose over two million pounds of mass AND change its orbit by about 33 minutes.

Hera is going to get close and personal on the two space rocks arriving in late 2026.

I can hardly wait......
